Our Story

The Magic Is
in the Simple

Osthir Flavours is built on one conviction: magical flavours live in the simplest dishes of life, if, and only if, every small step is done properly.

The belief

Rice, spice,
a sealed pot

The dishes we love most are not complicated. A pot of rice. A handful of whole spices. Time, and a little steam. Simple food is unforgiving, though: every shortcut shows. Done properly, a biryani is built in layers, sealed, and left to finish on gentle heat.

That is the belief behind the kitchen.

Creating magical flavours in the simplest dishes of life.

The name

A Bengali word
for restless

Osthir (অস্থির) is a Bengali word. It means restless, or unsettled. Why the founder chose it for a restaurant is a story we will add here in their own words. For now, take the dictionary meaning, and the food.

The menu stays short on purpose: a few biryanis, the desi classics worth growing up on, and drinks made the traditional way. Everything on it earns its place.

What we promise

What we will always tell you

01

Ingredients and allergens, listed

Every dish will show what is in it, allergens included, before you order.

02

A short menu, on purpose

A short menu cooked properly beats a long one done halfway. That is the whole trade.
